Joel Tretin

Fake news, deep fakes, visual deceptions, today truth is abstracted to distract from reality. I choose to use abstraction to express reality in new ways. The images use photography as a material. I photograph colors, textures, reflections, glints of light, etc. The using frequency separation I isolate the visual elements from the photograph. These elements are a pallet that I digitally manipulate to create the basic image. Then I draw, and color and further manipulate the image. The end result bares zero resemblance to the original photographs. The subject matter reflects my inner dialogues -- a scary place to be :-)
