John Cave

My life as an artist began when I was a young child watching my mother work using pastels, watercolors and inks, while making posters, signs, doing calligraphy for the local high school diplomas, or painting scenery. My undergraduate and graduate degrees were in biology and geology, influencing the way that I learned to paint and the subject matter that I chose to paint. I taught high school science on Long Island until the year 2000. I took classes in drawing and painting and began with flowers because they exhibited such a variation of structures and colors that reflected my background in botany. As I started to travel, I found other things that not only inspired me but also created a challenge to stretch my artistic ability.
My paintings can be seen at....jcavepaintings.blogspot.com
