Artist Bio:
Lucia Korpas has taken coursework in painting and drawing at Yale University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She recently completed the School of Visual Arts Artist Residency Program in Fine Art and a New York Studio School painting marathon. Currently, she is participating in the NYC Crit Club Canopy Program. She lives in Brooklyn and works at her studio in Long Island City.
Artist Statement:
I make paintings and drawings that reflect on the desire to understand and make meaning out of a mysterious world. My oil paintings and ink drawings develop intuitively from observations of the world around me and of my internal state as I navigate it. These works often features a central character interacting with their vast or ambiguous environment, exploring with curiosity or more urgently seeking something unknowable.
