Artist Bio:
Maxine St. Louis is a New York-based photographer whose work is rooted in a deep passion for connection, creativity, and care. For over ten years, she has been capturing the beauty and individuality of people through her lens—helping them see their vision or their truest selves come to life. With a belief that everyone is photogenic and worthy of being celebrated, Maxine creates spaces where her clients feel fully seen and valued.
Her dual career in speech-language pathology and photography allows her to approach each session with empathy, intentionality, and a unique understanding of human expression. Maxine’s photography is not just about taking beautiful images—it’s about offering people a moment that is entirely theirs.
In her personal work, Maxine explores the intersections of social ideologies, identity, and everyday experience, using her lens to question, document, and reflect the world around her. Whether she’s examining cultural narratives or capturing the subtle poetry of her environment, her images carry a quiet power that invites viewers to look deeper. Her work has been featured in various galleries, including the RIVAA Gallery on Roosevelt Island, reflecting her ability to move between intimate portraits and broader artistic expression with ease and grace.
Outside of her work, Maxine is an active choir member, a devoted Christ follower, a chocolate connoisseur, and a passionate advocate for self-care.
Artist Statement:
As a photographer, I am deeply drawn to people—their stories, their presence, their expression. Portraiture is where my heart lives. There’s something powerful about capturing someone in a way that feels true to who they are, allowing their personality, vulnerability, and strength to come through naturally. I aim to create space where people feel safe, seen, and celebrated—because I truly believe that everyone is photogenic and deserving of a moment that is entirely theirs.
My work lives at the intersection of connection and contemplation. While my client-based photography focuses on helping individuals feel confident and beautiful in front of the camera, my personal practice dives into exploring social ideologies and the environments that shape us. Through this lens, I document the world around me with curiosity and care, often using photography as a way to reflect on identity, community, and the quiet poetry of everyday life.
