Artist Statement:
My work explores the intersections of migration, identity, and the ever-shifting concept of home, mapping both external landscapes and internal worlds. Rooted in Taoist philosophy, I embrace the duality of fluidity and structure, chaos and harmony—integrating abstraction and figuration with materials drawn from daily life, such as Chinese ink, bold colors, tea leaves, and flower petals. These elements, each carrying its own history, serve as vessels for memory and emotion, reflecting the nuances of displacement and adaptation. Having moved constantly since childhood, I often felt caught in the in-between, existing in a liminal space between cultures, languages, and physical locations. My practice transforms this state of flux into a space of connection, where layered paintings and installations blur the boundaries between material and ephemeral, personal and collective. Through my work, I seek to create immersive, sensory-rich compositions that invite viewers to engage with themes of belonging, identity, and survival in a fragmented world.
