Vicky Steckel

Background / Objective / Scope / Constraint / Art / Revolution

These are the six propositions of Vicky Steckel’s work. Best known for The BOSCAR Project, Steckel produces vivid photographic series’ of persons emerging from and enmeshing with abstract scenes of found objects, paint, and refuse. Engulfed in color and curio in an interactive orchestra of upheaval, subjects engage with the painterly macrocosm of Steckel’s senses. Steckel’s work has been featured in numerous publications including The Fall Magazine and Marie Claire, contributing to the ongoing conversations of performance art and visual transformation. Occupied with both organic chaos and delicate allure, the artist conveys a sense of both losing and finding oneself in the balance of abandon and constraint.
